JET Programme Career Fair

JET Programme Career Fair

CLAIR hosts career fairs for JET participants in major cities in Japan to respond to both the interests of JET Programme participants seeking employment in Japan and Japanese companies/organisations seeking multilingual, global personnel.

JET Programme Career Fairs are held by CLAIR annually between January and April. In addition, CLAIR supports other local governments in hosting career fairs for local companies, JET participants, and study abroad students.

As participation is voluntary, each participant must bear travel, accommodation, and other related costs of attending the career fair on their own. In addition, each JET participant who wishes to attend the career fair must obtain permission from their supervisor so that it does not interfere with their work duties. As a general rule, only JET participants in their final year of the Programme (participants who have submitted their reappointment paperwork indicating that they do not request reappointment) may participate. Former JET participants residing in Japan may also participate.

The JET Programme Career Fair was invaluable in connecting me with companies seeking my skillset, and I was able to secure a new job at my company of choice following an extremely smooth recruitment process. I recommend all JETs who are interested in job-hunting in Japan to make use of this chance to see what opportunities await you!

I decided to join the 2022 JET Career Fair because I was trying to make up my mind between a few very different career fields after 3 years on JET. Representatives from companies all over Japan attended, and within just one day I was able to ask lots of questions, get a feel for the different career paths, and apply to the companies I was most interested in. I learned a lot by talking to other participants during break times, too. Thanks to this event, I found a job that offers all the opportunities I could have asked for.

I was on the JET Programme from 2017 to 2019 in Yamagata. Thanks to the After JET Conference, I received useful information about different career paths available in Japan; it’s a great resource I encourage other current JETs to use. During the career fair I was able to talk to companies from different industries through which I found my current job. It definitely opens up new opportunities.

CAPCOM CO., LTD.

Localization is an important part of the development process at Capcom, and we’ve been continually expanding our localization team to take on ever greater challenges while maintaining the highest possible level of quality in our localized games. We participated in the Career Fair for the first time in 2023 and have been very pleased with both the response from attendees, and the applications we’ve received. Many JET Programme participants exhibit an affinity for language and consideration of cultural concerns which can be put to great use in a career in localization. Over a dozen JET Programme alumni have joined the Capcom localization team over the years, and every single one has become an invaluable member of the team.

We feel it is fantastic that the Internship and Career Fair are provided through the JET Programme’s career support initiatives. Every year that we participate in the Internships we are reminded of just how talented JET Programme participants are and, if given the opportunity, we would love to have more of them as a part of our team. Due to COVID-19 we had to temporarily suspend hiring, but this year, we are resuming recruitment and are very eager to participate in the Career Fair for the first time.

Nisshin Global Corporation

Our company aims to provide services such as seeking talented foreign workers for placement at Japanese firms, spreading information in English to audiences around the world, and the promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Japan. We participate in the JET Programme Career Fair as well as the JET Programme Internships every year in order to achieve our aim of scouting the most talented foreign employees for Japanese SMEs. We have found that JET Programme participants possess not only linguistic ability, but also sensitivities that differ from Japanese people, making them capable of revitalizing Japanese companies and their staff. We are very excited to see what kind of amazing foreign talent we will be able to meet at this year’s Career Fair!
