With the aim of enhancing mental health support for JET participants, CLAIR offers the JET Programme Mental Health Counselling Assistance Programme. This programme provides a partial subsidy (50%, up to 20,000 yen per year) for counselling costs incurred through consultation with mental health professionals in Japan not covered by health insurance. The coverage period for this year is from 1 April, 2017 to 31 March, 2018.
CLAIR also offers a free online service to provide JET participants with mental health assistance from professional counsellors using Web Mail and Skype. Please ask your contracting organisation for further information.
The JET Programme Video Contest was first held from October 2015 to August 2016 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the JET Programme by showcasing the hidden charms of Japan’s local communities as seen through the eyes of current and former JET participants. Through the contest, CLAIR hoped to expand the use of the JET Programme as a tool to energise the local communities of Japan.
Due to popular demand, CLAIR is once again holding a JET Programme Video Contest, inviting current participants and alumni to submit videos to the contest and continue to share the charms of their ‘home away from home’ with the world. Winners of the contest will receive commemorative prizes.
Details regarding the contest will be released in May, but don’t miss the chance to take advantage of the blooming sakura (cherry blossoms) and start filming your entry today!
