The JET Mental Health Counselling Assistance Programme provides a partial subsidy (50%, up to 20,000 yen per year) for counselling costs incurred through consultation with mental health professionals in Japan not covered by health insurance. Additionally, the JET Online Counselling Service offers professional counselling for free through Web Mail and Skype. Please ask your contracting organisation for further information.
CLAIR also offers a free online service to provide JET participants with mental health assistance from professional counsellors using Web Mail and Skype. Please ask your contracting organisation for further information.
CLAIR is accepting submissions for the JET Programme Video Contest 2017.
Videos must be approximately three minutes in length, and must showcase the charm of Japan’s local regions as seen by JET participants. Award winners will receive prizes up to 100,000 yen in travel vouchers.
The deadline is Thursday, 30 November 2017.

The training seminar for the Translation & Interpretation Course (English) will be held from Monday, 4 December to Friday, 8 December 2017. The seminar will take place at the Japan Intercultural Academy of Municipalities (JIAM) in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Please bear in mind that participation in the training seminar is a requirement for receiving a Certificate of Completion for the course.

If you would like to change your course level, you can do so by accessing the contact information survey site, selecting your desired course and then clicking the “OK” button at the very bottom of the page. If you register to change your course level by 10 December, your new course will begin on 1 January.

If you have received approval for a TEFL Grant from CLAIR, the deadline to submit the required documents is Friday, 26 January 2018. The documents must arrive at CLAIR by this date. We recommend you finish your TEFL course at least a week in advance of the deadline to ensure that your documents arrive on time. Information about CLAIR’s career support initiatives, including information about the dates of the 2018 career fairs, has been updated on the JET Programme website. Registration for the career fairs and After JET Conference will begin in late November, so be sure to check your email in the coming weeks.

JET participants completing their appointment on the JET Programme in 2018 are eligible to attend the After JET Conference (AJC) on 24 – 25 February 2018 at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center.
At the conference, there will be seminars on post-JET career development and various career led by JET alumni who returned to their home countries after finishing the Programme.
There will also be one-on-one career consultations as well as opportunities to network with alumni and various professionals.
The conference will be held primarily in English.
For JET participants interested in working in Japan after JET, career fairs will be held in Osaka and Yokohama on 3 February and 25 February respectively.
Participants will be able to attend a seminar on job-searching in Japan and meet with companies interested in hiring JET participants for work in Japan.

The application period for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Grant (conducted on Sunday, 2 July 2017) ended on Tuesday, 31 October 2017. The grant application period for the second test date (scheduled to be Sunday, 3 December 2017) will begin in early February 2018.
