Working as an ALT for the JET Programme has not been a teaching job. It has been an adventure in learning — about Japan and about myself. My eager students, hard-working JTEs and fellow JET participants challenge my creativity, spontaneity and ability to deal with ambiguity. They remind me about the importance of international exchange — even if it is simply smiling at a stranger on a crowded train.

The JET experience allows you to immerse yourself in a completely new culture. Through the struggles and triumphs of this adventure I will return to my own country with new insight about myself, Japan and the world.
