Post-Arrival Orientation is a large-scale training event that new participants will attend after arriving in Japan.
The purpose of Post-Arrival Orientation is to provide essential knowledge about living in Japan as well as useful skills for working as a JET Programme participant.
Main Topics
・An introduction to life on the JET Programme, presented by Japanese government officials.
・An introduction to the role of JET Programme participants and working conditions.
・Workshops introducing job skills necessary for JET Programme participants to fulfil their roles, conducted by reappointed ALTs, CIRs and SEAs, as well as CLAIR and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
During this orientation, new JET Programme participants have the opportunity to meet with current JET Programme participants and to hear first-hand about working in Japanese schools or local government offices. Furthermore, new JET Programme participants will be able to meet with other workshop teachers as well as Japanese supervisors from their regional placements.

JET Programme participants arriving from Brazil, China, Korea and Peru arrive and begin their one-year appointment in April. A small number of JET Programme participants from other countries also arrive at this time. After attending orientation, participants then travel to their placement prefectures.

The majority of JET Programme participants, except for participants from Brazil, China, Korea, and Peru, attend this orientation before being dispatched to their placement prefectures.
