The JET Mental Health Counselling Assistance Programme provides a partial subsidy (50%, up to 20,000 yen per year) for counselling costs incurred through consultation with mental health professionals in Japan not covered by health insurance. Additionally, the JET Online Counselling Service offers professional counselling for free through Web Mail and Skype. Please ask your contracting organisation for further information.

The training seminar for the Translation & Interpretation Course will be held from Monday, 5 December to Friday, 9 December, 2016. The seminar will take place at the Japan Intercultural Academy of Municipalities (JIAM) in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Please bear in mind that participation in the training seminar is a requirement for receiving a Certificate of Completion for the course.
Registration for the Japanese Language Course is still possible. The contents of each course have been redesigned this year, so please check the course guide before registering via the Contact Information Survey for JET Participants website. Participants who apply before Saturday, 10 December will be able to start their course on Sunday, 1 January. For those whose courses have already started, you will not be able to access your account after the 6-month period has ended, so please remember to complete your course and to download your Certificate of Completion as well as the PDF materials.
If you have received approval for a TEFL Grant from CLAIR, the deadline for your required documents to arrive at CLAIR is Friday, 27 January, 2017. In order to send your required documents so that they arrive by the deadline, it is recommended you finish your TEFL course at least a week in advance of the deadline. For more information about the TEFL Grant schedule, please refer to the Grant Overview, accessible from the link below.

Registration for the career fairs and After JET Conference will begin in late November so be sure to check your email in the coming weeks.
The International Affiliation Exchange Commendation (Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Award), presented by CLAIR and sponsored jointly by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), awards outstanding yet under-recognised international exchange initiatives in efforts to share information about such practices across Japan.
If your local government or associated organisation currently has an international exchange initiative in place, please consider applying for the award. The deadline to apply is Wednesday 30 November, 2016.
