The JET Mental Health Counselling Assistance Programme provides a partial subsidy (50%, up to 20,000 yen per year) for counselling costs incurred through consultation with mental health professionals in Japan not covered by health insurance. Additionally, the JET Online Counselling Service offers professional counselling for free through Web Mail and Skype. Please ask your contracting organisation for further information.
For JET Programme participants who have passed the JLPT N3 conducted on 3 July 2016, you may be eligible to receive a grant for the test fee. To check your eligibility, please read over the Grant Overview and Eligibility Flowchart, accessible from the link below. If you meet the conditions, please submit your grant application directly to CLAIR by 31 October 2016.
JET participants completing their appointment on the JET Programme in 2017 are eligible to attend the After JET Conference (AJC) on 20 – 21 February, 2017, at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center. At the conference, (there will be workshops about finding employment both in and outside Japan, seminars on post-JET career development and opportunities to network with alumni). The conference will in general be held in English. In conjunction with the conference, there will also be a career fair for JET participants who wish to continue working in Japan. Registration is still possible after the registration deadline for a course has passed. The contents of each course have been redesigned this year, so please check the course guide before registering via the Contact Information Survey for JET Participants website. For those whose courses have already started, please remember to plan your study schedule ahead of time.
All JET participants are strongly advised to register with their home country’s embassy or local consulate while living in Japan, as your embassy may be able to help you and your relatives obtain necessary information and check on each other’s safety in times of emergency.
