This report contains the results of the “ALT School Summer Recess Activities Survey” conducted during September of 2003.
The impetus for this report was the desire of many Contracting Organisations to have a survey of the activities of ALTs during school summer recess, and it was through the cooperation of Contracting Organisations and Host Prefectures / Designated Cities that this report was made possible.
All Contracting Organisations were asked to report on one of their ALTs; reports for 2.093 ALTs were received in total.
The survey was comprised of two parts: 1) spaces to write the kind of activity engaged in and how it was treated, e.g. whether leave was granted and if so what kind of leave and 2) a space to write in detail about the activity.
This report also is made up of these two parts.
We hope that this report will prove useful when ALTs and their supervisors plan their summer activities.
