Pension Refund

【Eligibility】

A Lump-sum Withdrawal Payment (pension refund) can be granted on request to those former foreign residents of Japan who have enrolled in Japanese public pension, which includes all JET Programme participants. In order to be considered for the Lump-sum Withdrawal Payment, the JET participant must fulfil the following conditions:

 

1. Apply within two years of leaving Japan

2. Not possess Japanese citizenship

3. Have paid Employees Pension Insurance premiums for at least six months

4. Not have a place of residence in Japan (i.e. only those former foreign residents who have cancelled their Alien Registration and left Japan)

5. Never qualified for pension benefits (including Disability Allowance)
