The purpose of the JET Programme Japanese Language Course is to enhance your understanding of Japanese language and culture. The textbooks distributed to you each month will incorporate various aspects of life in Japan.
We hope that your participation in this course will not only give you a better understanding of the Japanese language, but that your daily life and work here will be enriched as a result. Please try your best and work hard to complete this course.
There are three levels in this course: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Please download the study guide below for more details.
■If course materials are lost or did not arrive, we advise you to contact the Help Line below as early as possible. This is because redelivery of these materials takes time, and will not be possible near the monthly test deadline.

■For those intending to enrol next year, please take this placement test to get an idea of which course is most suitable for you. Information about course enrollment is sent out to re-contracting JET participants around June and given to new participants at Tokyo Orientation.
Please note that you will not be able to change course level once you have sent in your application form.
Also note that this placement test should only be used for choosing which JET Programme Japanese Language Course to enrol in. It is not an indication of overall Japanese language ability.
